New Building
WORK BEGINS AT NEW BUILDING SITE
Work on the preparation of the site began April 25 and will progress in stages for 90 days. In the first stage, the underground water retention system will be completed and four to five feet of fill will be brought in. These two steps will take about 45 days.
When that work is complete, the foundation will be poured and made ready for the arrival of the building. The Board chose a permanent modular building from Williams Scotsman for its lower price and faster schedule. The building walls have been completed and are in a protected storage area waiting to be shipped by flatbed trailer to the Naples site.
Wall panels will be unloaded by crane from the trailer and bolted into place, and attached to the foundation.
Once the building walls are in place, the roof, paint, and windows will be added. Final utility hook-ups will be made and new interior furnishings will complete the process.
Sometime in mid- to late summer, students will walk through the doors and attend school in the facility they deserve—safe, new, and well-equipped for learning.
The new site is at 102 12th Street North just to the east of the Naples Daily News building. You’ll be able to recognize the location by the sign you see pictured above. If you watch the website, you will see a photo record of what’s going on at the site and see a schedule for the upcoming activities.
